Its starting to feel like summer: the days are hot, I’m spending more time by the grill than in the kitchen and I’ve already built a base tan while creating poolside cocktails. I’ve been working non stop with private events for Kitchit, Kitchensurfing and FREE Baking Company – which requires me to stay in town and close to home. I was disappointed I couldn’t attend the Vegas Uncork’d at Aria Resort and Casino this year, but then realized I’d do Uncork’d myself: fabulous food and a new signature cocktail. Margaritas are usually the perfect mix of sweet, sour and tequila, but I’ve been feeling frisky and want something unique and different! I recently discovered my new favorite spirit, El Silencio Mezcal: it’s smooth, rich and smoky; perfect straight or in your favorite cocktail. In my newest margarita recipe, I’ve added grapefruit (a personal favorite) and Jalapeño for an added kick. Boring margaritas … you’ve met your match!
